Bonheur du jour translates as "happiness of the day". The oval plate to the centre door would be and used to be used for vanity but it also served a purpose of bringing light to the writer in evening time by candle light. The bonjour du jour has a fitted drawer and reading lectern as well as a concealed drawer. This stunning piece of 18th Century furniture is inlaid with brown ebony to the sides and cross-banded with kingwood and boxwood bandings to the front.
The piece is in excellent condition.
The quality of this piece is totally outstanding. The satinwood is just so good!
