Georgian Mahogany Apothecary Cabinet

A larger than normal early 19th century Georgian mahogany apothecary cabinet.

The cabinet has a pair of doors that open to reveal a central compartment that falls forward and contains three drawers.

The interior and doors hold 21 chemist bottles, most by Philip J Shacklock of Mansfield, one by Benjamin Adams and one by J Potts, both of Mansfield.

The drawer to the top inside is compartmentalised and holds boxes of scale weights, a funnel, a syringe and a pill rolling tool.

The three drawers in the fold out section consists of two pill drawers with sliding lids and a large fitted drawer holding a mortar and pestle, a measure that has been repaired, two other bottles, a funnel and a jar.

The box when closed can be carried by a brass military plate handle fitted in the top.

The interior drawers all have military style brass ring handles and many of the labels by Shacklock have printed along the top 'TEETH CAREFULLY EXTRACTED'.

The box is in good original condition with a key that does not work.

The bottles are stained and marked and have some chips from use over the years. (Circa 1820)
