A pair of antique sterling silver spoons in the traditional old English pattern. Lovely plain styling. Total weight 189 grams, 6 troy ounces. Length 27.5 cms. London 1779. Maker Thomas Wallis II.
These useful long spoons are in very good condition with no damage or restoration. The bowls of the spoons are not worn and still retain the original shape.

The basting spoon, also known as a gravy spoon, was larger than a table spoon and was used for basting roast meats. Nowadays they are usually used as serving spoons.
