A little gem. A rare antique carved coconut jug with sterling silver mounts. Plain classic design with a silver lip, shaped collar and simple curved handle all standing on a square pedestal foot. The coconut is beautifully carved to one side with a flower and foliate design and the portrait of a gentleman wearing a tricorne hat. Height 13.5 cms (15.5 cms to top of handle). Diameter 6.25 cms. Spread 12 cms. London 1807. Maker William Abdy.
This charming little antique jug is in excellent visual condition. The silver has no damage or restoration and the marks are crisp and clear to read. The coconut has been reglued around the bottom at the same level as the base of the handle (see photos). Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
