An outstanding item by the highly regarded Benjamin Smith. This antique sterling silver serving dish, of oval form, has a crisp cast border with deep relief flower and leaf decoration. Engraved to each side there is a fine armorial, the motto reading “fac et spera” which means “do and hope”. Weighing 2088 grams (67 troy ounces) this silver platter is exceptionally heavy and feels very good in the hand. Length 42 cms. Width 32 cms. London 1820. Maker Benjamin Smith.
This excellent silver plate is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. It has not been machine polished and retains a good antique colour. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
