A very pretty antique silver bottle stand with pierced silver border and turned hardwood centre. Typical of the work by this sought after English lady silversmith the coaster has a simple classical design with bands of bright cut engraving and a garland of engraved flowers and leaves. Height 4.5 cms. Diameter 12 cms. Sterling silver. London 1784. Maker Hester Bateman.
This elegant sterling silver wine coaster is in excellent condition with no damage or restoration. The engraved decoration is still crisp. The silver marks are stamped on the edge of the base and, for this reason, are not clearly stamped. The date letter is a bit rubbed but can be read. There is a slight unevenness to the bottom edge where it is turned over the wooden base. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
