An unusual antique sterling silver label of cut cornered rectangular form with double reeded border, incised for “Shrub”. Weight 8 grams. Measures 4 x 2 cms. London 1797. Maker Thomas Phipps & Edward Robinson
This nice little label is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Stamped on the back with a full set of clear English silver hallmarks.
Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
Shrub was a very fashionable drink, especially c1790-1810. It was a mixture of Rum and Fruit Juices.
