Gerald Parkinson is primarily a painter of landscapes and coastal scenes. He was born in Shipley, Yorkshire in 1926 and studied at Bradford College of Art. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal West of England Academy, Society of Equestrian Artists and with Sussex and Yorkshire Artist Groups. He has held many one man shows in London, Brighton, Bristol, York, Bradford, Hove, Tunbridge Wells and Lewes. He has also held shows in Bologna, Stockholm and Monte Carlo, His paintings are in the collections of the Brighton & Hove Museum & Art Gallery, Luton Museum and Leicester County Hall.

This painting is an oil on board and is housed in a limed & polished oak frame with an inner slip. The title of the work and artist details are inscribed on the reverse. The Artist has has pared down the painting to its basic shapes, removing extraneous details, and thereby producing an abstracted image.
