The carriage clocks with Limoges enamel panels are undoubtedly the finest decorative carriage clocks ever produced, the quality of the artwork, with its delicately raised surfaces being in a class of its own.
The main dial with gilt bezel employs silver hands and white Roman numerals and flanking this and around the main dial is beautifully executed floral decoration featuring tulips and other flowers in a variety of colours, all set against a black background.
One side panel, 5.25" by 3", features a cherub in a garden with a garland around his head; a book at his feet and strumming on a harp. The other side panel has a cherub; also with a garland of flowers;dancing in a garden with a quiver of arrows at his feet.
The carrying handel has a gilded centre section and silver supports. The top four plates on the clock are alternatively gilded and silvered and beneath these is a gadrooned mould. there are simple corinthian columns to the four corners and the clock rests on two tier block block feet.
The very substantial movement, with a large and impressive silvered platform, has grade sonnerie striking on two gongs and is also provided with an alarm. It is numbered on the backplate 19840.£17,500.
