This is a Swiss timepiece made circa 1910. These larger watches were made for the English market and were made to fit into silver fronted leather cases with a hinged strut at the back. The watches would then be displayed on a desk or mantle piece.
This is a Swiss watch made circa 1910
The watch works for 36 hours and keeps time to around 10 minutes a day
Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and 15 jewels. The movement is in 90% mint condition – a good clean movement
Case – the move comes in a nickel, white metal case, which has a hinged inner, back and a snap on bezel. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 70% mint condition – dull scratches and marks have built up on the back of the case but could be professionally polished back to a mirror finish, which is seen on the inside of the case
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is in 70% mint condition – hairlines coming from the 11 down to the centre.
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch is stem wound / pin set
The watch measures 65mm wide x 20mm deep
This is a leather case with a silver front piece. The silver has hallmarks for Birmingham 1911 and maker's marks for HM
The inside is lined with green silk and velvet – there are some age related marks but overall in good condition
The silver has a raised border edge with carved detailing. The rest of the front is decorated with engine turning in a sun burst pattern. The silver is in 95% mint condition – very little wear
The leather has a hinged strut on the back. The case closes well and is in overall excellent condition
The case measures 11cm high x 10cm wide x 3cm deep
