A portrait miniature of a portly gentleman, he has powdered hair and is wearing a blue jacket, yellow waistcoat and a white chemise with a white loosely tied cravat.

Watercolour on ivory in an oval gold frame, the reverse with blue glass.

Edridge entered RA Schools 1784.
He exhibited portraits and miniatures at RA (202) 1786-1821. Elected ARA 1820, he had a successful society practice including many members of the Royal Family.
Represented: NPG London, BM; V & A M; SNG; Liverpool Museum.
Good, white unpainted edge of ivory visible to left side of the miniature.
