By Descent in the family of Earl Spencer Frederick and Horace were the sons of Admiral Lord Hugh Seymour and Lady Anne Horatia Waldegrave. Sir Horace Beauchamp SeymourK .C.H. (1791-1851) married, firstly, Elizabeth Malet Palk, daughter of Sir Lawrence Palk, Bt., on 15 May 1818. His third daughter by this first marriage, Adelaide Horatia Elizabeth Seymour (1825-1877), married Frederick, 4th Earl Spencer (1798-1857). Sir Horace married, secondly, Frances Selina Isabella Poyntz, daughter of William Stephen Poyntz and Hon. Elizabeth Mary Browne, in July 1835. Frances Poyntz was the sister of the 4th Earl's first wife Georgiana Elizabeth Poyntz (1799-1851). Besides gaining rank of Colonel in the army Sir Horace was a Peelite Member of Parliament for Lisburn, Antrim, Oxford, Bodmin and Midhurst. Frederick Charles William Seymour (1797-1856) married, firstly, Lady Mary Gordon, daughter of George Gordon, 9th Marquess of Huntly and Catherine Cope, on 15 April 1822.2 He married, secondly, Lady Augusta Hervey, daughter of Frederick William Hervey, 1st Marquess of Bristol and Hon. Elizabeth Albana Upton, on 18 September 1832.
