Made by Hester Bateman in London in 1784.
The front of the stem is very crisply decorated with a wriggle edge pattern which makes the spoons sparkle in the light. The hallmarks are stamped on the plain reverse of the stem and are good and clear but the makers mark has been somewhat mis-struck although perfectly legible. The owners initials, J N are engraved just below the hallmarks.
The bowl of the spoon is wide enough to be used for small helpings of jelly or spices and their excellent condition means they would make an ideal gift.
Length: 4 inches (10.2 cm)
Weight: x 4: 1 troy ounce (31.1 grams)
