This work by Edna Clarke Hall is one of her poem paintings for possible inclusion in Facets a book of her illustrated poems published by Elkin Mathews & Marrot in 1930.

In 1897 Edna won a scholarship at the Slade School of Art where she studied with Augustus and Gwen John
Very good. N.B. the artist has added a strip of paper to the uneven bottom edge of this drawing which can be seen on the bottom left hand side.

Edna Clarke Hall exhibited widely in London including several times at the Redfern Gallery. Her work is in many private and public collections including the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Tate Gallery
