High quality figured walnut kneehole desk stamped James Winter & Sons, 101 Wardour Street, Soho, London, circa 1840; the top with rounded corners, lined in old dark green leather; the mahogany lined drawers with moulded edges and original turned knob-handles; the rear of the pedestals are panelled and polished, and all is of richly-figured golden timber.

James Winter & Sons were founded in 1823. They were comprehensive house furnishers and retailers. Surviving furniture bearing their stamp is always of fine quality.
