"Bulldog" was the nameship of the First Class wooden paddle sloops. She was built at Chatham dockyard and launched October 1845. Of 1124 tons, she measured 190 feet in length with a 36 foot beam and was powered by a Rennie 500 nhp engine.
Oil on canvas. Signed J.Cleet and dated 1890, within a period maple veneered frame.
