Hoechst Coffee Can and Saucer.The floral sequences represent decoration of the highest order. Cup with Snake Handle (see V&A Collection C.1509&A-1919 for similar handle). The first Hoechst porcelain works was in existence from 1743 to 1796 and with the support of the Elector of Mainz from 1773,from whence the factory porduced porcelain,hitherto having produced faience wares.

From the German Porcelain Collection of a British Industrialist and Engineer, much of whose collection was amassed from Sothebys and Christie's during the inter-war years, where pieces were for sale including from notable provenances. These pieces were documented in a very detailed notebook kept by this collector,which remains in private hands.
