Spode Imari Pattern (No. 967) Punch Bowl c. 1810. The bowl we offer is 24cm. diameter and 11 cm. depth. The Imari pattern 967 was the most popular of Spode's offerings and was used for over a hundred years.
The colours and the gilding are generally very good, clean and crisp. There is some wear to the gilding on the rim, consistent with its age and handling. There may be some slight restoration to one small area, though the 'ring' to the porcelain is clear and distinct. The price we ask takes into account this possible restoration.
The shape accords with that of shape no. 15 in the Spode Shape Book of 1820 (see Whiter: Spode, where the bowl is offered in ten possible capacities)

For pattern comparison, see Whiter op.cit. plate 232, of two match pots and plate 247, of ornamental pen-holder with dolphins. See also colour plate VIII antique shape pedestal jar.
Height 23.50 cm (9.25 inches)
Diameter 10.00 (3.94 inches)
