Although it is difficult to find or attribute a 19th Century manufacturer, cabinet maker or gilder to this piece, it is apparent from the unusual design with the influence of Brighton Pavilion and the use of the dragons heads. The dragon designs of Robert Jones and Frederick Crace , Royal decorators to King George IV, can be seen at the Great Banqueting Hall and Music Room of Brighton Pavilion.

The original marble top rests on a parcel gilt and water gilt frame which is more restrained than the Chinoiserie fanciful designs of Crace and Jones and explains the overall design of the early 19th Century tastes of High Society in Ireland at that time.

The console table has the original mercury plate sitting on a stunning rosewood veneered base. Such is the outstanding quality of this piece that even the back of the plinth base has been veneered.
