Bergman, who was most active in the 1940’s and 1950’s, starred in classical films such as For Whom the Bell Tolls, Casablanca and Joan of Arc. Her exalted status as a well-respected actress along with her glamorous good looks served as inspiration for Andy Warhol’s 1983 “Ingrid Bergman” series. From this series is the unique Trial Proof print, “Ingrid Bergman: With Hat”, which is the only one of its kind. While Warhol created multiple prints of the same image, this print is the only one existence with its distinct color composition. Vibrant accent colors illuminate the star’s profile, creating a striking contrast against the deep black background.
