An Irish Armchair in the Manner of Williams and Gibton

Constructed in oak; rising from cabriole front legs channelled and carved with scrolls, terminating in claw feet; the rear legs of equine form, with hoof feet; the channelled seat back having a shaped toprail centred about addorsed 'C' scrolls, with palmettes to the wings, and issuing swept serpentine arms adorned with lappets; the seat and back upholstered in hide.

The partnership of John Mack, Zachariah Williams and William Gibton traded together from 1810 in Stafford Street, Dublin until John Mack's death in 1829, when Williams and Gibton continued to work together until the death of Gibton in 1842.
