This ornamental powder horn is in remarkably good condition, suggesting that it was intended for ceremonial use. It is carved on one side with a cartouche depicting a deer hunt, and on the reverse with the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Württemberg - three black antlers representing Württemberg on the dexter side, and the three black lions passant of medieval Swabia on the sinister. The powder horn follows the natural curve of the ivory, with the pointed end modelled as the head of a sea serpent. The entire surface is richly decorated, with bands of oak leaves and acorns, and with an acanthus leaf design at the broader end.
