A portrait miniature of a naval officer, he is wearing a blue jacket edged with gold braid, two gold fringed epaulettes, a white chemise and tied stock. His hair is worn lightly powdered.

John Thomas Barber Beaumont 1774-1841. He was born in London and entered the Royal Academy Schools aged 17. He took up miniature paintings in 1784, exhibiting at the Royal Academy 1794-1806. He had a distinguished clientele, painting portraits of the Royal family. He signed his miniatures ITB. Examples of his miniatures are in the Victoria & Albert Museum, some of his miniatures were loaned to the South Kensington Exhibition of 1865.
