Very fine quality and unusual, early 20th Century oak-cased Barograph- numbered “12” in essentially original condition; the case elegantly shaped and moulded, with 5 bevelled glass panels. The 7-capsule nickel silver aneroid barometer stack and platform escapement clock drum with original lacquer surface. Very unusual engraved, silvered brass auxiliary dial inscribed: “J Hicks – 8, 9 & 10 Hatton Garden, London”. Glass ink bottle. Mahogany-lined chart drawer to base with classic Edwardian inset brass drop-handle.

James Hicks was a leading UK meteorological instrument maker, who prospered from c1880 until the firm’s acquisition by Stanley in 1911.
