A late 19th to early 20th century Japanese Satsuma pottery vase from the Meiji period (1868-1912).
The vase has a dark blue background with gilt decoration of flowers and butterflies to the shoulder and base rim.
The main body of the vase has a continuous scene of Japanese ladies and young girls in traditional dress by a lake with Mount Fuji in the background and flowers and trees in the foreground.
The vase is in very good condition with a gold on red caricature signature mark on the underside. (Circa 1900)
