Japanese silk embroidery of a cockatoo with fine silk threads, signed Shūho 秋圃 and bearing label S. Iida Takashimaya-Kyoto, Tokyo 飯田。 高島屋 京都。
late Meiji Period.
The Takashimaya Textile firm was founded in 1831 by Shinshichi Iida based in Kyoto.
The company won over 197 between gold medals and awards for their excellence and in 1897 became purveyor to the Imperial Household.
