Polish artist Witold Gordon portrayed his adopted New York in loving detail and typographic glory with his Vogue, House and Garden and New Yorker Magazine covers in the 1940’s. He was commissioned by Radio City Music Hall to create two large murals in 1932 and went on to create another for the New York World’s Fair in 1939. A series of 35 gouaches was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in February of 1941, titled “American Scene.”
Very good, with the usual aging issues of a 19th century photograph.

Mounted on a 19th century photo album page with woodengraving collage of two headless female figures
