John Gould & Henry Constantine Richter hand-coloured nineteenth century scientifically print of Rhinolophus cervinus (Fawn Horseshoe bats).
Engraved by Charles Joseph Hullmandel & Joseph Fowell Walton.
Originally bound within "Mammals of Australia" by John Gould, F.R.S, published in 1863, London,. This plate was number 34 from Volume III.
This print is mounted, framed and glazed. A copy of the adjacent folio is sealed to the reverse, detailing Gould's scientific observations of this species of bat "posterior margin slightly sinuated near the tip,".
Another example of this print is held in the collections of the Museum Victoria.
