'Paris'

A most stunning panorama view of Paris by one of the most prolific engravers of his times. J.F. Probst (1721-1781) came from a long line of engravers of city views and vues d'optiques.

The engraving shows the city's spires and surroundings with the Coat of Arms next to a banner bearing the title 'Paris' in the top part of the plate. The foreground depicts further buildings with costumed figures and riders. With explanatory text in German and Latin at top and bottom of plate.
2 joint sheets. some very faint browning. platemark just visible. small margins all around. very strong impression. excellent condition.
