Most attractively proportioned and very fine quality early 19th Century figured mahogany dwarf Wheel Barometer, in original condition. The ‘'swan-neck' pediment over well-patinated case, ebony strung and inset with finely engraved silvered brass detachable hygrometer, bow-fronted Fahrenheit thermometer and unusually small 6-inch diameter barometer dial, with cast brass bezel, unusually secured through the case by threaded rods. Inset spirit level signed by the makers at base.

Gardners were a noted family of Optical Instrument makers who worked from various premises in Glasgow for over a century from 1773.
