Most elegant mahogany Marine Stick Barometer; the slender case, square in cross-section with bowed sides, with ring suspension over engraved ivory maker’s plate, the engraved ivory barometer and Fahrenheit thermometer register plates below, protected by hinged door. The trunk, mounted with replaced hinged brass gimbals, and with constricted marine barometer tube terminating within original 3-section turned brass cistern cover. Bears label : "Used by Admiral Sir Crawford Caffin KCB".

Dennis moved to London from Bristol in 1839 and worked from premises at 118 and 122 Bishopsgate, specialising primarily in marine instruments, until 1866.
