Elegant 19th Century mahogany, bow-fronted Stick Barometer; the ‘swan-neck’ pediment over finely engraved silvered brass register plates, signed, with rack-and-pinion operated vernier. The slender trunk, in well-patinated ‘flame’ mahogany and strung in ebony, bearing inset bow-fronted Fahrenheit and Réaumur mercury thermometer; the original barometer cistern tube terminating behind ebony urn-shaped cistern cover. [The inner carcass bears the signature of eminent London makers G. & C. Dixey]

Hudson is recorded as an Optician, working from several premises in the Leicester Square area from 1817-37. He was succeeded by his wife Sarah.
