John Linnell, circa 1826 A fine portrait of a Lady believed to be Miss Jane Puxley, wearing a blue velvet shawl with ermine border, black dress with lace underslip standing before an arched architectural setting.

Additional Information:

It has not been possible to find any further information about the sitter except to say that Linnell is known to have painted two full length oil portraits of her in 1826, which were sold at Sotheby's in 2002. In both portraits, as in this miniature, the sitter is shown set against an arched architectural structure with landscape background. In one sitting Jane is shown in profile to the left, whilst the other portrait shows her in a three quarter pose similar to the stance in this miniature
