Item Description / Dealer Expertise
|
A good late Georgian English Dial clock with engraved and silvered dial, salt box case and early anchor escapement.
The case of mahogany is in the saltbox style with the backboard extended below the box. A moulded door in the bottom and a deep side door provide access to the movement.
The engraved and silvered dial, 12 inches in diameter, has Roman numerals, a single dot minutes circle and outside five minute marks. The engraved signature as above has fine scrolling. The blued steel hands have pierced diamond tips and the cast brass, concave section bezel with original lock is turned to match the wood surround.
The 8-Day timepiece movement has five pillars, rectangular plates and original anchor escapement.
