Joshua Harrocks Clockmaker of Lancaster. Stunning Antique George III Longcase Clock made by Gillows of Lancaster.

The four pillar eight day movement striking the hours on a bell has a twelve inch silvered and brass dial and date aperture. The arch has a painted hunting scene and is signed on a silvered strip 'Joshua Harrocks, Lancaster'.
The clock is complete with the original weights and pendulum.
Joshua Harrocks was free in 1748 aged 21 and in 1759 made the Parish Clock in Lancaster.
The clock is similar to the sketch shown Ref. 'Gillows of Lancaster and London 1740-1840' page 391 by Susan E Stuart.
