This antique chest of drawers is over 220 years old dating from around 1790 and is a fine example of a mahogany Lancashire chest made in the Georgian period. It has a rectangular moulded top above a flamed mahogany frieze with a two over three drawer configuration. Each drawer is oak lined with cock beading, the piece still retains the original brass swan neck handles. The front edges have beautifully reeded quarter columns, typical of the ‘Lancashire’ style, and the antique chest stands gracefully on ogee bracket feet. It is a light medium shade of mahogany with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
