Vassyl Khmeluk was born in 1903 in Berezivka Ukraine. Vassyl went on to study at the Krakiv Art Academy from 1921-1923 in the studio of Artist Yaronsky, and then onto Karlov University in Prague. Well educated, Vassyl then had a very fruitful career and exhibited in Paris and New York.
Vassyl developed a style that was inspired by Cezanne and the Fauves. He was greatly revered by Art Historians such as F.H. Lem and Charles Kunstler. The painting is a fine example of Vassyl’s style and shows a landscape scene with flanking trees to both sides.
