(Rome 1623 - 1690)
Large garland of flowers with two swallows

With Expertise of prof. Giancarlo Sestieri

oil on canvas

with golden frame
(cm) 139 x 107
with frame 149 x 118

This painting was attributed to Niccolò Stanchi by Professor Giancarlo Sestieri.

The workshop of the Stanchi brothers, Giovanni, Niccolò and Angelo, constituted one of the most fervent workshops of still life in Baroque Rome since 1630, sought after by the most important families of the Aristocracy, Columns, Chigi, Rospigliosi and present since the end of the century in the Medici collections.

Niccolò Stanchi works in Rome for almost the seventeenth century;

He realized works of art in the Borghese palace, in Rome, executed in 1675 in collaboration with Ciro Ferri. To these are added the couple of flower festoons in the Pinacoteca Capitolina, from the Sacchetti collection, and a series of six small documented canvases by Niccolò for Cardinal Flavio Chigi, today at the Incisa family, as well as some documented deaths from the beginning of the eighteenth century in the Pallavicini collection, where they are still found.

State of the Object:
Like most of the works produced by Stanchi's hand, our flower composition is distinguished by its brilliant colors and perfect preservation, presumably facilitated by the most commonly used materials.

This is probably the reason for the success of his workshop during five decades of flourishing activity.
