An exceptional quality Japanese Imari vase dating from ca 1700 and featuring an excellent decoration: three panels depicting an hawk resting amongst pine tree branches and shi shi lions fighting in a surround of rocks, bamboo and peonies. Every panel is separated by the other by big red/gold double ribbons and tassels. The background are very finely painted blue and white scrolling leaves.
An identical example can be found in Saltram, National Trust property in Devon.
Very good conditions, a small star shape hairline crack on the base
