c.1895 French gorge-cased gilt-bronze grand-sonnerie carriage clock.

Maker - ETC

The gorge case with beveled glasses and a hinged handle.

The porcelain dials have bold Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic numbers for the 5-minute marks, steel cut spade and indicator hands, Arabic numbers for the alarm dial and is framed by a matt gilt mask.

The high quality 8-day time, strike and alarm movement has grand-sonnerie striking with the strike select lever out the bottom, is set and wound off the backplate and is signed by the maker ‘ETC’ and the retailer ‘J E Caldwell & Co, Philadelphia’ and still retains the original lever platform.

This piece was sold and restored by Fanelli Antique Clocks in NYC about 20 year ago. It will be serviced and guaranteed before delivery.
