Excellent original untouched condition, a fair amount of patina to the top of the largest table and no signs of repairs; the smaller tables are intact.
Raised on turned legs and shaped feet, with beautiful Vernis Martin hand-painted decoration to the tops. The largest table is indistinctly signed by the artist.
Vernis Martin (‘vernis’ is French for varnish) is a remarkably lustrous and fine in texture lacquer substitute developed n the 18th century to decorate furniture, and later perfected by the French brothers Guillaume and Etienne-Simon Martin, hence the name Martin.
