Late C19th Pitch Pine Saddle Horse, by Musgrave & Co Ltd, with an angled and hinged top and two removable iron poles joined by a brass pole, one short side with three drawers, the other with a door enclosing a shelf, on castors, with cast iron label to each end with a Royal Coat of Arms MUSGRAVE & CO. A Saddle Horse is used for cleaning, storing and repairing horse tack. The ironwork firm Musgrave & Co. founded in Belfast 1843 produced some of the best examples. Between 1890 and 1914 Musgrave & Co. sold high volumes of fittings for the tack room, including stable fittings, saddle holders, harness racks and bridle hooks. They fitted and furnished stables for members of the European royalty and aristocracy, including Victoria, The Princess Royal, Empress of Germany and Alfonso XIII of Spain, as well as cattle barons in South America.
