A rare Art Deco bronze and carved ivory figure "Le Grand Ecart Respecteux" [ The Respectful Splits ]. Depicted as a Pierette posed completing the splits. Cold painted bronze costume, and beautiflly hand carved Ivory face and hands. Raised upon a shaped porter marble base.

Paul Philippe (1870-1930) studied sculpture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Antonin Larroux (1859-1913). He made works from bronze, ivory as well as in combination of both materials. Philippe regularly exhibited his works in the Parisian Salons.
