Bradbury and Evans
Two volumes - Volume One - xiv, 320pp and Volume Two - , 321-625pp, . Contemporary full calf, raised bands, spines in six panels, morocco title label to second panel, volume label to fourth, remaining panels with gilt volute and flower decoration, covers with triple fillet border and flower head corner pieces, gilt roll to edges and inner edges, all edges marbled, combed marbled endpapers. Slightly rubbed externally, internally some light browning and foxing, plates slightly oxidised (as usual), though the image is generally quite clean. Previous owners armorial bookplate to front pastedowns (Frederick Perkins of Chipstead Place, whose library was sold by Sothebys in the late nineteenth century). With engraved frontispiece and title and thirty-eight plates, letterpress title bound in to volume two. Binding is by Clyde. Smith 12, Sad
