Attractive mid-19th century mahogany Stick Barometer, with ‘ogee’ pediment over engraved ivory register plates, bearing mercury Fahrenheit thermometer and rack-and-pinion operated vernier , protected by bevelled plate glass. The slender trunk, edge-moulded, with original barometer tube terminating within rectangular moulded cistern cover.

Initially in partnership with Caesar Tagliabue from 1848, Casella rapidly expanded the company, winning major contracts from the Admiralty, Board of Trade and Board of Ordnance as well as numerous foreign governments. The company still trades today.
