Depicted wearing a diadem and pearls in her hair and with her dress knotted at her breast and draped around her shoulders. On a flared, integral square plinth.

Louis-Simon Boizot (1743-1809), renowned modeller for the Sèvres factory, who originally created this, and other busts of the royal couple, in bisque porcelain. Other copies of this bust are held in various museums and private collections including the Salle de Billart at Petit Trianon, Versailles, the Royal Collection and the V&A in London. Boizot was a gifted designer and craftsman, a member of the Académie Royale and a winner of the Prix de Rome in 1762.
