The 8” painted iron dial has its original background with the signature and numerals strengthened due to over fading. The matching steel hands also seem to bear some stylistic reference to engraved circles of the backplate.
The mahogany case has some nice figured curl veneers with good colour. The case design is often referred to as a single padtop, a description of the applied veneered panel and brass mount, which holds the handle. Typical of this case style with a round dial, is the brass convex bezel and fish scale frets which are attached to the front door. The cast brass strips on the chamfered corners are a nice detail.
