A original late 18th Century dial clock. It has a turned outer wooden bezel, and a traditional single piece salt box case. The silvered dial has original hands and is engraved for the Maker John Hovil of Rotherhithe. It has a fusee movement, shaped plates and a verge escapement with a bob pendulum.
The case is in excellent untouched original condition, with its original working lock and hinges. The dial has been resilvered in the past and does show signs of wear. The movement has been fully serviced and is guaranteed for 12 months. On close inspection we have ascertained that the clock originally had a verge escapement, was converted to anchor in the 19th Century, then converted back to a verge escapement, although not recently as it now shows signs of wear. It is guaranteed for 12 months.
