A fine late Mid Victorian English wall clock of rare small size, the 9 inch flat dial with original crackle painted surface and signed by the retailer on the dial.

The elegant rosewood veneered case has a good patina and is beautifully figured. It retains its original convex brass bezel with a flat glass.

The plated single fusee movement is of excellent quality and runs for 7 days. The delicately tapering blued steel spade hands appear to be original.

Overall Diameter: 11 in (28 cm)

Height: 14 ½ in (37 cm)

Depth: 5 in (12.75 cm)

* Mappin and Webb are listed on page 506 of Brian Loomes’ Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World – 21st Edition. They were retailers in London from the latter part of the 19th century until the present day.
