The central scene of this Meissen sauceboat stand depicts three gentlemen, one wearing a distinctive puce coat, awaiting embarkation onto a sailing ship, which is being loaded. In the background, classical ruins overlook the scene. The rim of the sauce boat stand is decorated with a band of a green chequered pattern, set between the gilded edge and an inner ring of gilded scrolls with florets underneath this border.
There is a number 38 impressed, which may refer to the mould number for this type of this Meissen sauceboat stand.
